Reality check. This world is as cruel, if not more cruel than it really seems. It's not a place where everything's perfect. Nothing and no one is perfect in the first place. It's a broken down world and I've learnt that you can't put your faith in just anyone in this world. You got to be careful who you let into your life and ultimately into your heart. Because that is when you become vulnerable and dependent on that someone. And if he/she decides to disappoint you, imagine the hurt you'll receive. It's almost like stabbing your own heart repeatedly with a knife. In and out, and in again. You'll then wonder if you should even let anyone in at all. Be careful, be very very careful.
The ugly sight of humanity disgusts me. I know it's a dog eat dog world, but where did true friendship, camaraderie and love go? Do we really have to give that up in order to succeed in life? Have we really lost our moral compass? Do we drive all the way up to the top even if we knock down some poor souls along the way, flicking them away one by one with your finger when they had proved themselves to be 'useless'? Is that the absolute way to success?
'For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?'
- Matthew 16:26
Life is never going to be as simple as you think it is. Some people are extremely intelligent, or if not cunning. They smile at you, but it's only a facade. They're holding a dagger, or if not a pistol right behind their back. You never know who to trust.
But I feel if you are one team, one family, then hold your hands together and help each other get up there. You are only as strong as your weakest link. To me, stepping on others to get your way up is the most despicable way to succeed. Because once you are up there alone, that is when you know that you've lost everything, right down to even your own soul. And when you fall so bad, no one will be there to pick you up.
No one.
